What I do

  • Fuses replaced with modular circuit breakers
  • RCDs: a main one, and 30 mA for bathrooms and wet rooms
  • Every circuit identified and labelled
  • Extra circuits: kitchen, EV charger, electric heating
  • Up-to-date diagrams for inspection

When to replace it?

  • You still have rewirable or screw-in fuses
  • A breaker trips often or the box gets warm
  • There's no RCD, or no 30 mA one for the bathroom
  • You're adding an EV charger, a kitchen or solar panels

Frequently asked questions

How long without power?

The replacement is usually done within the day. I tell you in advance when the power will be off.

What is an RCD?

It's the device that cuts the power if current leaks to earth, for example when someone touches a live wire. It protects people. In Belgium you need a main one and a 30 mA one for wet rooms.

My breaker keeps tripping, do I need a new fuse box?

Not necessarily. First the cause has to be found. Don't force it or swap it for a bigger one: call me and I'll track down the problem.

30 mA or 300 mA RCD: what's the difference?

The RCD at the head of the installation, often 300 mA, protects the whole house. The more sensitive 30 mA ones protect people where the risk is highest: bathroom, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher.

My fuse box is getting hot or crackling, what should I do?

If you can do it safely, switch off the circuit concerned, touch nothing else and call me. A fuse box that gets hot or crackles needs looking at quickly.

Does the new fuse box need inspecting?

Yes. Replacing the fuse box is a major change: the installation must be inspected by an approved body before it's used. I prepare the diagrams for that inspection.

Let's talk about your installation.

One call is enough to know what needs doing. For a breakdown, it's the fastest way.
